[BLUEPRINT] Asia’s Fashion Gateway

This week, I am so fortunate to be able to attend the [BluePrint] Fashion trade show!  I feel SO blessed, that my father, allowed me to attend a school, that pushes their students as far as they could, to reach out for their potential! And to have a sight at what the real industry is like!

Luckily, My friends and I were early for the event, It was like a SHOPPING MALL when we stepped inside the room! Colourful garments greeted our eyes! We was allowed to have a quick tour around the booths, before the crew from BluePrint, ushered everyone into the lounge where we could watch the fashion shows.

The music was VERY LOUD! My ear drum was going to “explode” from all that loud fashion music! Luckily, I was not anywhere near that huge speaker! I pity the media people, they had to go near the LOUD music blasting out of the huge speakers, in order to capture good pictures of the  fashion designers’ work!

Overall, I feel that the fashion shows were BRILLANT! I LOVE IT! I really enjoyed observing the models wearing the creatively designed garments! It was very inspiring for me! One of the beautiful model was from Asia’s next top model! Her name is Sofia Wakabayashi. She was SO TALL! I LOVE her sleek figure and definitely her long legs!

Audi Star Creation 2013!

I am SO blissful to be able to attend the Audi Star Creation 2013, held in the tent at the Singapore Flyers! There was quite a number of people there, INCLUDING COLIN MCDOWELL! CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?! I was breathing the same air as COLIN MCDOWELL! OMG! There was even FREE drinks and the ice creams are from Magnum! Love It!

Colin McDowell is a British fashion writer, he wrote 20 books on fashion and designers, he was even banned by many big fashion houses’ fashion shows but he is still very proud of it. You can watch his 18 minutes, interview video here. Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Edj7hKimvlY

The fashion show was very fascinating, 12 talented finalist from all over Asia, can finally get to showcase their own unique designs at the Audi Star Creation 2013! The clothes that were showcased, were heavily inspired by culture, traditions and even Kelantan‘s boats and kites!

The Winners came from Singapore, followed by China and then Vietnam!

Poulet

Poulet is an affordable French restaurant that offers loads of mouth-watering dishes and desserts! Poulet is located at Great World City, Bugis+, Chinatown Point, Jurong Point and Vivocity!

I tried their latest Poulet Roti. [$15.80 for half the chicken, $28.80 for a whole chicken].The roast chicken meat is served with home-made cranberry sauce and double mustard (tasted like wasabi) , I personally think that the roast chicken meat with the home-made cranberry sauce is a good mix!

I like the Country Side Mushroom Soup ($5.80)! It has a velvety-textured, creamy and DELICIOUS! Tasted like the mushroom soup offered at The Soup Spoon!  The French Onion Soup ($5.80) tasted sour and sweet, it tasted the same as my domestic helper’s normal home-made onion soup…. I recommend my reader to order the Country Side Mushroom Soup instead of the French Onion Soup!

The Banana Bread Pudding ($6.80) was quite filling but it tasted quite GOOD actually! It was soft, even a person with no teeth can savour the filling dessert! The dessert comes with a scoop of cold vanilla ice cream!

My First Few Fashion Drawings!

I love drawing clothes for my models, but drawing the models for my clothes, is quite challenging! I had to draw the shoulders, waist, hips and knees all accurately! But my hard work paid off, I adore my drawings of the models and the clothes on them, I had to refer from a magazine, and  copy exactly from the magazine, onto my A3 size drawing block. It was that challenging!

The other picture, I had to use tracing paper, for the front view of the clothing from the magazine, and as the back view of the clothing wasn’t shown on the magazine, I had to use my imagination and create a new look for the back view of the clothing! I love it! <3

I will advise my readers to use different kinds of pencils to draw the details on the face. Don’t press your pencil too hard onto the fragile paper. Because if you were to make a mistake and want to erase it, it will leave a hard pencil mark on the paper, it will appear very ugly!

I will also recommend my readers to use the soft putty eraser, available at Art Friend, to erase away the mistake on your paper. For example, if you have to draw a lot of circles at a certain place, you can use the soft putty eraser to gently dap on the area that you had made the mistake, and not mess up the rest of the circles with the common, normal soft eraser.

Hokkaido Ice Cream!

Today, Hokkaido Ice Cream officially opened their first day at Orchard Plaza! So my dad and I, decided to give it a try. There are various kinds of mouth-watering, ice cream flavours to choose from! My dad and I tried the green tea with red bean ice cream and the double berry ice cream. It was DELICIOUS! I LIKE IT! Although, it was rather expensive for a single scoop, ranging from $3.80 SGD for single cup to $4.30 SGD for single cone, but it is totally worth it for a refreshing, cold dessert under the scorching sun in Singapore!

The best part of the experience at Hokkaido Ice Cream shop, is that you will definitely get a sure-win prize once you exceed $3.80 SGD on their ice cream! If a golden, silver, yellow or red ball rolls out, you will definitely be given your free single scoop ice cream voucher/vouchers! If a white ball rolls out, you are only given a coffee, you can either have a cold coffee or a hot one.

Honeymoon Dessert.

Honeymoon Dessert offers, a variety of delicious hot and cold dessert! I went to 313 Somerset, level 4, to try the cold basil seed in vanilla sauce, with green tea ice cream ($5.50SGD). My parents tried the warm doubled boiled papaya, with almond & snow fungus ($5.80SGD) and warm glutinous rice ball, with sweet potato in ginger soup ($2.80 SGD). All the three dessert was refreshing, sweet and delicious! Love it!

The cold basil seed in vanilla sauce, with green tea ice cream was good! The green tea ice cream has the gluey texture and I could taste the strong green tea flavour of the ice cream! The vanilla sauce was creamy, the basil seed was frozen, but it tasted crunchy!

The warm doubled boiled papaya, with almond & snow fungus, was just nice, not too sweet and not too bland. It was soothing and I can taste the sweetness of the while fungus and papaya!

The warm glutinous rice ball, with sweet potato in ginger, will taste great for ginger lovers. I could not really taste the sweet potato due to the “strong” flavour of the ginger! The glutinous rice ball was soft and chewy!

NOOK!

Nook is the FIRST D.I.Y Pancake shop in Singapore! Nook is located at Bukit Timah, 21 Lorong Kilat,#01-03 Singapore 598123.

Whenever I step into Nook, uninteresting surrounding greeted me, nothing but chairs and tables for customers to dine on only, I think that they should paint something colourful on the walls, they might attract more customers that way! But overall, the owner of Nook, is very creative to have a D.I.Y. pancake shop in Singapore! People whom don’t really know how to cook, will feel happy and feel great about themselves, that they can cook something on their own!

Nook offers a D.I.Y. pancake buffet to STUDENTS only from 3pm till 6pm on weekdays! It cost $10 per person and drinks are not included!

On my first visit to Nook, I tried the funky banana pancake mix, the after taste, tasted funny! It tasted a bit like rotten banana. After a few weeks later, I decided to give it another try, and brought my friend with me, to Nook to try the other pancake flavours. My friend tried the strawberry farm and I took the original buttermilk. The strawberry farm tasted quite sweet, that’s the way pancake should taste like! The original buttermilk tasted plain and a little sweet. From my view of Nook’s pancakes, I recommend to my readers that you should never have your pancakes without any toppings, some pancake flavours  from Nook will taste bland without any toppings, like the funky banana pancake mix!
